Paths of Light and Shadow

I don't want to heal you

That's not my place

I can shine my light on you till you're blue in the face

But my fire was forced from every lesson that burned me

Forced from the ashes of every version that replaced me

You have to hold your own darkness and walk at your own pace

And if it doesn't match mine

Then we are not in the same place

I'm sorry you feel that I'm leaving you behind

I waited, begged and screamed for you to find the time

The strength to walk forward with me

But I can no longer stay back and wait for the sun to rise

I am the sun moving along like I should

Continuing down my path to my highest good

So I say goodbye with love and grief

And maybe I'll carry a part of you every time I speak

On love and loss

Light and dark

But I'll no longer hold a place for you in my heart

I'll no longer hold on till my hands bleed

I'll set myself free to be truly loved for me

To have someone meet me instead of holding me back

So now I say goodbye and I'll try to never look back

And if I do it will be a reminder to myself

That I deserve a better place than one on someone else's shelf

I deserve to be loved the way I know now I'll love myself

Because God, spirit, universe did not put me on this earth

To heal everybody else

I was put here to love freely without expectations or conditions

I was put here to live my own life and go through my own experiences

So I'll grieve that you never held my hand

And I'll continue walking forward to the future I promised myself

For I am only here to love and nothing else
